Curling deserves its Olympic status

Tried sleeping on curlers for the first time. Turns out, like most things, it's harder to get it right than you'd think.

What do you think? Not really the old Hollywood glam I was hoping for...

  1. Ah, yes -- sponge curlers. Very hard to master unless you're age 10 and have very low curl standards. The left angle is full-on glam -- gorgeous. It's the wave on the right side that's a bit out of control, at least when you view it head-on. I have a feeling the only way overnight rollers equal glam is if you add a whole lot of product to the equation, but we modern folk think we can have it all the beauty with none of the shellack. We think wrong. :)

  2. Do you think the beauty is worth the shellack? That's one thing I fought when it came to my wedding hair doo, "No hairspray." (Lost that fight.)

It might be fun for Halloween, but I don't think I like it for everyday.

  3. The best thing about these photos is your dramatic expression. I couldn't think about the curls because I was wondering what in the world you were so thinking about.

  4. Leave in curlers are so overrated....go for hot rollers, you'll be surprised at the great results without wasting a bunch of time

  5. Certain kinds of looks require shellack no matter what kind of hair you have. So I guess the real question is how much you want that look? There are plenty of fantastic ways to do your hair that require no goop or starch, but those sculptured looks are strictly no pain no gain (or at least in my experience). And sometimes you get tired of being a natural woman and just really really want to look like Lauren Bacall when you show up at church. Those are the days when Aquanet is a girl's best friend. If only they could make it not stink so bad.

  6. I agree with Amy- the look is quite intriguing, what are you thinking about? Better luck next time! Maybe a diffuser? Worked for Shea!

  7. Te he he, I used to sleep in curlers....when I was about 6! I agree with Shawna, girl you totally have to go hot curlers...you will achieve hollywood glam that way for sure. Put them in, leave in while brushing your teeth and then take out and ta da! Awesome curls for no time at all! Trust me on this one! When ever you are in town next time we can try it out if you are not convinced by this comment...

  8. What are sponge rollers good for? Are they even worth keeping around?

Stefanie -- I definitely want to play with hot rollers when I'm next in town.
