Had my baby

Our baby was born 1:05 a.m. Tuesday morning. He was 6 lbs 1 oz, two weeks early and too quick to give mom time for an epidural.

This video is from his first day.

And this we took while trying to wake him up for round two of feeding on Friday.

  1. Leah, Yancey, he's beautiful and perfect. Congratulations. I'm so happy for you. Jeshua...I like that. I haven't heard it before, but it's nice. Not weird and trendy, but solid and unique. Feels Hebrew. Where did you find the name?

  2. As I listened to news reports of the snow in NY, I kept thinking about you having your baby. I didn't actually remember the exact due date, but hoped you didn't need to get anywhere in the bad weather. It's a bit like when yr mom had Brandt, right? That was a bad snowstorm up in Washington if I remember correctly. Brandt, too, came fast. Strange, though, since Jeshua is a first baby. (Speed, though, is relative, when waiting for pain relief.)

  4. Yay, Zimmermans! Congratulations! He's really a handsome little guy--did the nurses comment on his nice, round head shape? I hope that you're feeling okay.

  6. Congrats! That's so exciting. And I guess since he was early, you can claim him on this year's taxes! That's always a plus, right!

Man, you must know what the pioneers felt like, going natural! You're tough! I hope you're feeling well!

  8. Oh, and well done on the name! Nice cross between traditional/meaningful and (currently) unusual. I prophesy that his missionary call will be to Jerusalem!

  10. Jorjeta -- I thought a lot about the pioneers, particularly with all the snow we were having. Y and I agreed we were glad that our birthing plan wasn't just to circle the wagons and hope for the best.

Amy -- No comments on his head shape (the nurses weren't chatty), but I am doing my best to keep it that way by alternating which side he sleeps on.

Liz -- Yeah, Brandt was born in a snow storm too! One of the biggest miracles of the evening -- and there were several -- was finding a cab with four-wheel drive.

  14. I am grateful for the second video - the first had me worried about his appendages! ;) It was wonderful to see your lovely little guy. I am so happy for all of you - mom, dad, and baby boy. Congrats!!

  15. Yancy, I feel that the 'whole story' really needs to be told...you know, the adventure which got you guys to the hospital. Now THAT is epic.

    Congrats, guys!

  16. He's so cute! I'm so glad everything was okay considering how badly the weather was in other areas around New York at the time!

I'm also excited because I know neither of you are the type to update your Facebook statuses to tell us all about your bb's latest bowel movement. No, seriously... I unfriended 3 people this week just for repeated offenses in my newsfeed. D:
